Welcome from Vince & Robin Yokom

Twin Cedars Farm began in 2012 when we purchased 11 acres just north of Hempstead, TX. Since then we have been preparing the land and working to bring our small farm into production.

Vince loves growing vegetables. Partially raised with his grandparents in Poteet, TX, he spent years with his grandfather on his farm gaining a love for the land and rural Texas. Over the years, he has experimented with different growing techniques, soils, irrigation, beekeeping, and organic practices.

Robin has always had a love for rural Texas. She spent many years working the land with her family on their property near Milano, TX. While growing vegetables wasn’t their focus, she learned many valuable skills that would one day help her in running a small family farm.

about the name

We are often asked how did you come up with the name? When we first purchased the farm, we noticed two very large cedar trees in the middle of the pasture. The name just popped out. “We should call this place Twin Cedars.” As time went on, we noticed several split trunk cedars around the property. This reinforced the name and provided the inspiration for the logo using negative space to portray two overlapping cedars.

our Approach

For us it’s very simple. Genesis 2:15 “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden [of Eden] to work it and take care of it.”

stewardship

We believe strongly in “keeping the garden.” While we see this as a metaphor for being a good steward of the land, it is also a simple directive, one we try to implement in our small part of the world.

giving back

While we sell much of our produce, we also believe in giving back. To that end, we work with local non-profits to provide quality food for those who may not have all they need. It is literally sowing seeds in other’s lives.
